A revenue number you keep bumping against. A schedule that feels maxed out no matter what you try. A sense that this is just the size your practice is going to be.

Most owners interpret that as a reflection of their market or specialty — some natural limit.

In almost every case I've seen, it's not about the market. It's about the structure.

Dealing With Patient Pain

During your interaction with patients in general, they may ask for your opinion as a professional or seek a diagnosis. It is essential to refrain from sharing what you “think” their condition might be, substantiating the origin of their pain, or suggesting a diagnosis, regardless of your personal beliefs or impressions.

9 Ways to Keep Your AI Scribe Out of Trouble

3. Tell patients what is listening, and log what they say

There are two separate legal layers here, and practices tend to see only one. HIPAA governs what happens to the information after it is captured. State recording and eavesdropping statutes, several of which require consent from every party, govern whether capturing the conversation was lawful in the first place. A tool can be fully HIPAA compliant and still create exposure under a state wiretap law.

Build a short, plain script for the front desk and a one-line version for the exam room, then record the patient's answer somewhere retrievable, in the chart or in the registration record. Just as important, have a clean path for the patient who says no. The scribe goes off, the physician documents the old way and nobody argues about it at the door.

Feds’ Rural HC Plan Under Scrutiny

One year into its creation, a $50 billion federal program aimed at improving rural healthcare lacks transparency, which could make it difficult to protect against fraud, identify successful projects and ensure the program delivers on its promise to transform the system.
