Question: When do ICD-10-CM changes officially start?I saw on a web post that the new changes do not begin until 1.1.27, but doesn't the CDC and CMS say the changes start 10.1 each year? Also, do changes apply to every payer?

The fact is the CDC provides the ICD-10-CM codes to CMS for use an has already posted October 1st updates that are effective on October 1, 2026 and every October 1st, never on January 1st. “FY 2027” is the name of the fiscal-year code set. HIPAA-mandated ICD-10-CM adoption should not automatically be assumed for non-HIPAA programs such as workers' compensation. Also, be aware that it only covers HIPAA covered entities, so worker comp plans and other not required to update may not change their coding. Always verify!

A functional foot orthosis is theoretically designed to influence the function of the foot. This differs from an accommodative orthotic, which would be used to accommodate rather than change the functional movement pattern of the foot, and by extension, the body.

Huntington Hospital in Huntington, New York, has performed its first transverse tibial transport procedure, an advanced technique designed to stimulate new blood flow in patients with severe peripheral vascular disease who may otherwise face amputation.
