The Role of Fear in Ankle Instability
Fear of movement, known clinically as kinesiophobia, appears to track closely with how people with chronic ankle instability rate their own ankle function, according to a systematic review published in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders. The review pooled evidence from eight studies covering 407 individuals with chronic ankle instability, 57 percent of whom were female. Its central conclusion is nuanced: higher kinesiophobia was generally associated with poorer self-reported ankle function, while the evidence linking fear of movement to measurable balance deficits remained limited and inconsistent.

MGMA Statement on 2027 Medicare Fee Schedule
"Notwithstanding modest policy improvements to enhance value-based care through MSSP, MGMA is disappointed by CMS’s decision to finalize several destabilizing policies in the 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. Conversion factor cuts of 1.83% for qualifying APM participants and 2.31% for all other clinicians further degrade an already fragile payment system and amplify severe financial challenges caused by years of inadequate Medicare reimbursement. Compounding this ongoing reimbursement decline, CMS will cut payments by 20% when office visits billed with modifier 25 are performed on the same day as certain procedures, interfering with physician practices’ ability to offer same-day care.
Congress must intervene to prevent further harm by immediately fixing cuts to the conversion factor, along with changes to modifier 25. To prevent annual disruption, Congress should prioritize comprehensive MACRA reform by passing the Patients First Act."

Re: What One AI Mistake Could Cost a Small Practice
Regarding the article posted on November 2 (scroll to the bottom), this is NOT an AI issue. This IS a security breach due to this employee's inability to follow instructions and guidelines. As the article says,
"A staff member uploaded a spreadsheet of patient information to a public AI tool the hospital had not approved."
and
"The employee deleted the prompt, the thread and the document from the tool, and Hopkins asked the AI company to delete the data and add safeguards. Letters began going out October 22 with an offer of 12 months of free credit monitoring."
What part of this is AI related? The employee should have been fired if he deleted the prompt (which is silly since it can be recovered anyway).
What I am not understanding?

Who Should Prescribe Obesity Management Meds?
Eligibility to prescribe obesity management medications (OMMs), including GLP-1 receptor agonists and dual incretin agonists, should rest on demonstrated training and the capacity to deliver comprehensive obesity care, not on specialty title alone. Many current rules tie prescribing rights to a specialty rather than to competence in managing the chronic disease of obesity. This principle applies to every specialty, including primary care.

Is Price Transparency a Strategic Advantage?
A consumer who wants to make an intelligent economic decision must have accurate information regarding price and quality. A commercial from some time ago depicted a potential customer asking a salesperson, “How much is your $1,200 computer?” with the salesperson replying, “$1,800.” Makers of this tongue-in-cheek ad were highlighting the lack of price transparency in the computer industry. The prices for today’s medical services are even less transparent than those depicted in this commercial.

Study: Diet, Exercise Might Reverse Type 2 Diabetes
While an estimated 38 million Americans have type 2 diabetes, the condition is increasingly being diagnosed in younger adults. Without treatment, they face decades of elevated risk for complications like heart disease and kidney failure.
A recent study published October 1 in the journal The Lancet Regional Health – Americas investigated whether a combination of intensive weight loss and structured exercise could put early-onset type 2 diabetes into remission.
